L to R: Jeff Schulz, Video Project Specialist, and Jim Rao, Director of Video Technology, Vector Security, Inc.; Chris Marsicano, Northeast Regional Sales Manager, Don Beeby, VP of Sales, and Tony Fujita, Executive VP, CBC (AMERICA) Corp.

Citing the quality of Vector Security’s business relationship with their company, CBC (AMERICA) Corporation recently selected Vector Security as the recipient of its first “Video Integrator of the Year” award. CBC (AMERICA) Corp. offers a complete line of CCTV security products under CBC’s own brand names, Computar and GANZ.

Don Beeby, Vice President of Sales for CBC (AMERICA), indicated that their selection of Vector Security was based upon a number of critical factors, including Vector’s integrity and commitment, wide usage of their products and willingness to help direct their engineering efforts in ways which better positioned CBC in several vertical markets, especially national retailers. “The sign of a true partner is not just that they bring you into an account, but that they work to refine your products to better service the demands of the market. That’s exactly what Vector has done and they’ve helped create a win-win-win situation for their customers, for Vector Security and for CBC.”

Jim Rao, Vector Security’s Director of Video Technology for its National Accounts Division, adds, “Normally and understandably, most video integration awards and recognition typically go to companies that are engaged in large scale video integration projects such as healthcare, municipal systems, transportation and public utilities. The fact that Vector Security received this award, as an integrator that focuses primarily on retail, makes it an even greater honor. “

Dom D’Ascoli, ESA Vice President/President-Elect, accepted the award on Don’s behalf.

State Training Coordinator of the Year

Because of his commitment to the training activities of his Chartered Chapter, John Yusza from Connecticut was awarded State Training Coordinator of the Year. Anti-Masking Detectors from Visonic Bring Advanced Sensor Technology to Market

December 17th, 2009 No comments

Visonic Ltd brings advanced sensor technology to market with its Anti-Masking line of motion detectors.

While most motion detectors can be easily blocked, sprayed or obstructed – and therefore be rendered useless – Visonic’s Anti-Masking detectors alert the user when they’ve been tampered with.

The detectors include Visonic’s DUET AM C/O and DUO 220AM and the TOWER- 10AM, 12AM and 20AM. They each assure users that their motion sensors are working properly and are not accidentally – or purposely – blocked.

The DUET AM C/O is a professional grade commercial dual technology detector. Its Anti-Masking technology is superbly suited to those needing to protect the most critical areas. In the Anti-Masking mode, two normally closed relay outputs are available for alarm and trouble conditions. Additionally, DUET AM/CO can be operated with both Form “A” (normally open) and Form “B” (normally closed) relay outputs when the Anti-Masking function is disabled.

The DUO 220AM (MW/PIR/Anti-Masking) is a state-of-the-art, microcomputer controlled dual-technology intrusion detector. The PIR and MW technologies, when combined in a single detector, complement each other to deliver the highly reliable detection and false alarm immunity. Distinguishing the DUO 220AM from other dual detectors is its patented True Motion Recognition™ algorithm. This advanced motion analysis method enables the DUO 220AM to differentiate between the true motion of a human body and any other disturbances that can trigger false alarms in other detectors.

The TOWER-10AM, 12AM and 20 AM intrusion detectors introduce revolutionary technologies that raise detection sensitivity, anti-vandalism and anti-masking to a new level. Anti-spray perimeter groves produce a diffractive IR beam pattern, providing an unbeatable defense against spray or lacquer. The TOWER-10AM (PIR) and TOWER -12AM (dual-technology) intrusion detectors are intended for industrial applications. They boast several revolutionary and patented technologies in conjunction with groundbreaking design and construction. They’re ideally suited to protect property from highly sophisticated and tough-to-counter threats. These TOWER detectors offer unprecedented detection sensitivity for an extremely large coverage area. They’re the ideal security solution for large industrial, commercial, institutional and government sites.

The TOWER-20AM-MCW wireless outdoor detector is designed to reduce false alarms in all outdoor applications. Its Octa-Quad™ technology uses eight Quad PIR sensors combined with patented optical and electronic signal processing that allows it to accurately and reliably determine if an alarm is justified. It works in conjunction with Visonic’s PowerMax® advanced home security system to ensure a complete solution for full protection of the house, inside and out. Equipped with a strong housing and patented Anti-Masking protection, the TOWER-10 AM, 12 AM and 20AM-MCW all provide exceptionally high resistance to vandalism and masking.

Silent Knight Expands Portfolio to Expand Capacity, Capabilities

November 5th, 2009 No comments

New detector and module series enhances non-proprietary fire protection solutions.

Silent Knight by Honeywell (NYSE: HON) introduces a new series of addressable devices, compatible with its IntelliKnight™ fire alarm control panels. The new “SK” series of devices manufactured by Honeywell’s System Sensor allow for increased system capacity and reduced installation time. This second, more comprehensive line of detectors and other SLC (Signaling Line Circuit) modules also expands IntelliKnight systems’ capabilities to protect a wider scope of applications.

To protect larger-size facilities, SK devices can be utilized to gain points on an IntelliKnight system’s SLC loop. As a result, the total capacity of the smallest 5 700 panel increases to 100 points, while the larger 5808 panel’s maximum point capacity grows to 198. For jobs requiring as many as 792 points, the capacity of Silent Knight’s largest 5820XL panel can be easily increased with the addition of up to three SLC loop cards.

The SK detectors feature a built-in code wheel, allowing installers to set the address right at the device. Many alternative brands of detectors require addressing to be done at the panel or via a handheld programming device, making for a longer, more cumbersome installation. Each SK detector also ships with the required base to simplify ordering and stocking.

The SK series introduces new product offerings to the IntelliKnight family to enhance fire protection capabilities. An SK beam detector can provide more comprehensive coverage for atriums and gymnasiums. A new multi-criteria detector offers more precise detection, leading to reduced false alarms and faster response times. Multiple input/output modules allow a fire alarm panel to monitor or control multiple loops from a single device, saving installation time, equipment space and both equipment and labor costs.

All IntelliKnight panels and SK devices are non-proprietary products and readily available nationwide through security wholesale distribution. To learn more in-depth details on Silent Knight fire protection products, visit Silent Knight .

Notifier Integrates Video and Campus Views with First Responder Incident Assessment Device

November 5th, 2009 No comments

NOTIFIER by Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has enhanced its ONYX FirstVision interactive touch screen display to provide first responders more conclusive, real-time information on emergency events. A new “campus view” feature can display critical information from multiple fire alarm systems throughout a facility, campus and across the globe. When integrated with Honeywell’s Rapid Eye™ DVR (Digital Video Recording) system, ONYX FirstVision provides live video of various building areas.

ONYX FirstVision is an emergency scene assessment tool used by first responders to determine the origi n and migration of a fire, location of emergency alerts, potential hazards or areas of refuge within the affected areas. Interactive floor-by-floor building layouts depicting activated fire alarm system components, water supplies, fire barriers, emergency shut-off valves and other site-specific details enable emergency officials to make fast, effective response plans. Ideal for large universities, industrial facilities and healthcare complexes, ONYX FirstVision is typically placed in a security office, local dispatch center or other centralized location for easy access.

Evolving beyond its original single-building monitoring capabilities, ONYX FirstVision can now survey multiple buildings and fire alarm networks. This technology ties into NOTIFIER fire alarm systems over new or existing TCP/IP networks to provide a campus view of all system events.

The ability to view areas in and around a scene can be critical to making intelligent decisions in the midst of an emergency. To make this possible, today’s version of ONYX FirstVision works alongside Honeywell’s Rapid Eye DVR system to display real-time video feeds from any number of CCTV cameras. By simply tapping a camera icon on ONYX FirstVision’s interactive display, users can view areas covered by those cameras to assess fire conditions, occupants, entry ways, exits and more.

The ONYX FirstVision system was developed by NOTIFIER utilizing one-on-one feedback from firefighters, security personnel, EMTs (Emergency Medical Technician), facility owners and managers, and NOTIFIER Distributors. At the request of these users, this latest version features new icons to indicate fire alarm pull stations, waterflow valves, hazardous material storage and areas of refuge. All interactive display areas are also designed to accommodate the heavy gloves typically worn by firefighters.

More detailed information on the latest ONYX FirstVision technology from NOTIFIER is available online at www.notifier.com.
