It’s Almost Here! The 7th Annual Golf Classic Returns to Vegas

March 5th, 2010 No comments

Have You Signed Up to Enjoy Guiltless Golfing with AIREF?

The 7th Annual Alarm Industry Research & Educational Foundation (AIREF) golf tournament will be held March 23, 2010 at the Revere Golf Club in Las Vegas, one day prior to ISC West. The tournament promises players a casual golf outing with other industry professionals while supporting AIREF initiatives in the process.

AIREF, an all-volunteer nonprofit foundation, was created in 1977 by ESA to serve as the research arm of the industry and funding for the foundation is derived almost solely from the golf tournament. In 2003, ESA and AIREF founded the tournament as a way to help raise money for industry research.

Research studies funded by AIREF include a survey of Salt Lake City residents that showed 65 percent of registered voters disapprove of the city’s verified response ordinance and a more recent study by Rutgers University that proved scientifically that residential burglar alarms deter crime.

To register for the tournament, visit www.airef.org. For more information about the tournament and sponsorship opportunities, call (203) 762-2444 or email Pat Remes at premes@airef.org.

Support important industry research while playing golf

You are invited to the 6th Annual AIREF Golf Classic on March 31 at the Revere Country Club in Las Vegas. Be sure and register today.

The annual AIREF Golf Classic is the primary source of revenue for AIREF and provides valuable funding for research and education conducted on behalf of the industry. Recently, through generous sponsorships and donations, AIREF was able to fund a comprehensive study of five years of statistics that found residential burglar alarm systems decrease crime. This ground-breaking study, conducted by Rutgers University, focused on alarm systems while scientifically ruling out other factors that could have impacted the crime rate. This study is free for NBFAA members to use to help promote their business. It can be found at www.airef.org.

You can support additional research for your industry by participating in the upcoming AIREF golf tournament. Players may register individually or up to a foursome. Players who register together will be placed in the same foursome. All players participating in the event will receive a gift bag, breakfast buffet and lunch box, and free admission to the AIREF Reception at the Rock House later that evening. The event takes place at the Revere Golf Club – a course that has been rated as 4.5 out of 5 stars by Golf Digest Magazine!

Registration for the event may be made over the phone by contacting SYNCOMM at (310) 821-7309 or by filling out the registration form and faxing it to (800) 490-9682. Players can also register with Ryan or Carlo at SYNCOMM by calling (310) 821-7309.

Sponsorships are also available and range from $750 – $25,000. These sponsorships support the work of the industry’s research and educational foundation.

If you can’t participate in, or sponsor, the tournament, we encourage you to send a tax-deductible donation to help fund future studies to benefit your business and your industry. Make your check out to AIREF and send it to NBFAA.

Rutgers Study Finds Alarm Systems are Valuable Crime-Fighting Tool

February 23rd, 2009 No comments

NBFAA’s research foundation, AIREF, sponsored a comprehensive study that scientifically confirms alarm systems are valuable crime-fighting tools. This study was recently released by researchers at the Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice (SCJ) in Newark and was a comprehensive study of five years of statistics by researchers who found that residential burglar alarm systems decrease crime. While other studies have concluded that most burglars avoid alarm systems, this is the first study to focus on alarm systems while scientifically ruling out other factors that could have impacted the crime rate.

To help NBFAA members publicize this study, a press release for local media has been written for you and is provided in a fill-in-the-blank format [link to press release].

Should you need a list of media in your area, contact Bryan Matthews at Margulies Communications Group, bryan@prexperts.net or call 214-368-0909, and he will provide you with media contact information.

In addition to your local publicity support, NBFAA’s public relations firm has distributed a national press release via the PR Newswire and has also sent the release to CNN and the Associated Press. This study is great news for the alarm industry so let your community know about it. Plan to send your press release out today.

Support additional research for your industry by participating in the upcoming AIREF golf tournament, March 31, 2009. The annual golf tournament is the primary source of revenue for AIREF and all members are encouraged to golf, sponsor a hole and/or help sponsor the tournament. If you can’t participate in the tournament, please send a tax-deductible donation – any amount is helpful. Make your check out to AIREF and send it to NBFAA. For more information about the tournament, see the Events section below.
