New Video System Technology Course Now Available
NBFAA’s National Training School Offers Advanced Training
in Video Surveillance Systems

Irving, Texas, May 31, 2007 – In response to increased demand for video system technology training, the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) is now offering an advanced classroom training course through its National Training School (NTS).

Designed for those who design, sell, install or service video surveillance systems, the course, Video System Technology (VST), provides an overview of the theory, installation and maintenance of video systems. The VST course of study includes the following topics: imaging hardware; transmission medium; system power; auxiliary equipment; video processing and control; monitors and recording; system design and commissioning; and troubleshooting. A reference manual and examination are included. Students who successfully complete the course will receive 1.4 continuing education units towards renewal of their NTS Certification.

Additionally the new course covers the various elements included in the recently released NICET Video Security System (VSS) Technician Certification. While not intended to be a “preparatory” course, the VST course will aid students in establishing the fundamental core knowledge necessary to ultimately prepare for NICET Certification.

The first class of VST instructors completed their training in May, and the first class will be taught in Doraville, Ga., June 5-6. Additional courses are scheduled in California and Massachusetts in June and July and will be taught in New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan later in the year.

“NTS has trained more than 30,000 individuals since its founding in 1985 and is clearly the definitive training source for security professionals. This new course builds on that reputation for excellence,” said Dale Eller, NTS director of Education and Training.

NTS gives students the choice of traditional classroom and more than 2500 online business courses with both NTS and partner programs. With education and certification programs for security and fire alarm technicians, NTS has the most recognized training for licensing requirements and offers three certifications: Certified Alarm Technician (Level I); Certified Fire Alarm Technician; and Certified Alarm Technician (Level II).

Course schedules change often as NTS is continually adding classes and expanding course schedules. For a comprehensive list of available training courses around the country, visit the Professional Development section at www.alarm.org. You may also contact an NBFAA state chapter for course registration information. For more information about NTS, or to request the VST course in your area, call (866) 636-1687 or e-mail NTS@alarm.org.
