Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, April 10, 2007
– The Ohio Electronic Life Safety & Security Association (OELSSA) and the Indiana Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (IBFAA) will host the first-ever joint association professional alarm convention and exhibition (P.A.C.E.) in Columbus, Ohio on May 1 and 2. The event will be held at the Concourse Hotel and Convention Center, Port Columbus International Airport, Columbus.

This is the first multi-state event in the Midwest, but is the 24th annual convention for the Ohio association. Both OELSSA and IBFAA are chartered chapters of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association, the largest trade association in the United States with the primary purpose of representing, promoting and enhancing the growth and professional development of the electronic life safety, security and systems industry.

The P.A.C.E. keynote luncheon address on May 2 will be given by the Ohio State Representative Joseph Ueker, sponsor of the proposed Ohio licensing law for electronic life safety providers. Wednesday’s luncheon will also include the presentation of Ohio’s Youth Scholarship Program winners and the results of the state’s tool drive for Habitat for Humanity. Both the Indiana and Ohio chapters participate in the NBFAA’s national Youth Scholarship Program for the children of police and fire department personnel. The first-place winners from each state will compete for $20,000 worth of scholarships. OELSSA will also be collecting used cell phones to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society and used ink cartridges that will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Other P.A.C.E. events include a golf outing, opening reception and Networking 101 class on May 1. The National Training School-approved Networking 101 class provides practical knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) programming, and network applications for cameras and security equipment. Founded by the NBFAA twenty-two years ago, NTS offers both classroom and on-line training. Nearly 30,000 students have completed NTS courses and thousands have been certified.

In addition to networking and educational opportunities, attendees will have the option to attend numerous seminars on May 2 focused on both security-specific and business-focused topics, including Remote Video Monitoring; Improving Profits by Working Smarter; Voice over IP (VoIP); False Alarm Management; Contracts, Implementing Digital Video on an IP Network; and Anatomy of an Acquisition. More than 35 suppliers will participate in an afternoon exhibit area that concludes with a conference reception and dinner.
