AIREF/NBFAA Golf Tournament to Tee Off in Vegas
Third annual golf tournament held before the start of the ISC West Show and Expo
Irving, Texas, Feb. 8, 2006 – The third annual Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF) and the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) Golf Without Guilt Tournament will tee off on April 4, 2006, the Tuesday before the start of the International Security Conference (ISC) West Exposition.
Participants are encouraged to relax and enjoy a day of Golf Without Guilt at the Revere Golf Club — voted best Las Vegas golf course.
Co-chair of the golf tournament, Bart Didden (USA Central Station Alarm Corp), said a day of Golf Without Guilt is a great event to compliment the 2006 NBFAA Spring Conference and Chartered State Association (CSA) Symposium, as well as ISC West.
“This isn’t just about a golf game; it is about the NBFAA and members from around the country pitching in to benefit the industry – and having fun doing it. Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit AIREF, an all-volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to conducting research that benefits the public interest as well as the interests of the alarm industry.”
According to Merlin Guilbeau, NBFAA executive director, AIREF has undertaken two major research studies with the proceeds raised in the first two years of the golf tournament. “We are working with Rutgers University on one study and with the Institute of Law and Justice on another,” said Guilbeau.
“The projects are nearing completion and we are very confident that what we learn will be valuable to our members, the industry, and consumers. This research would not have been possible were it not for this fundraising effort,” added Guilbeau.
Didden and co-chair Jamie Orvis (Security Solutions Inc.) said that the success of the golf tournament is due in large to the sponsors.
Current sponsors for the tournament include the Weinstock-level sponsor: Honeywell Systems Group and Honeywell Security, and Jackson-level sponsors: ADI, GE Security and Napco Security Group. Additional sponsors include: ISC Expo, Altronix, Tri-Ed Distribution, Honeywell Fire, Vector Security and System Sensor.
Sponsorships are still available for the tournament and AIREF and NBFAA organizers are still recruiting players and volunteers to help with the event.
