Government Relations Team Provides Legislative UpdateThe House and Senate both have passed another extension of the Higher Education Act giving the Conference Committee more time to work on the bill. As we have reported, we are working to secure our language that was included in the House version of the bill increasing fire safety in student housing at colleges and universities. Conferees will now have until May 31 to clear the bill. Both the House and Senate face a crowded agenda between now and the Memorial Day recess, so further extensions may be needed. Mission 500, an important non-profit initiative focusing its efforts on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis had numerous opportunities to spread its message at the recently held ISC event in Las Vegas. The goal of Mission 500 is to sponsor 500 needy children through World Vision’s child sponsorship program. It is a volunteer-driven initiative, and one hundred percent of the funds raised are channeled directly to World Vision. The globally renowned humanitarian organization provides food, clothing and education to those truly in need. Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) has promoted Doug Rieman to the position of director of Market Development, Financial Solutions, Eastern U.S. In his new role, Reiman will support DMP dealers who serve financial institution customers, while also driving business to the dealers by raising awareness in the financial services market of DMP products and services.
Reiman has progressed through positions in almost every area of the security industry. Beginning with a position in a central station, he has served as an installer, technician, and worked in sales, all with a Midwest-based dealer. He gained manufacturing experience with a Fortune 500 company, and spent the past three years at DMP serving as Regional Sales Manager for the South Central Region.
