Inaugural Electronic Security Expo Blasts Past 100 Exhibitor Mark

On its way to an estimated 150 exhibiting companies in its first year of operation, the Electronic Security Expo (ESX) accepted a contract for exhibit space from its 100th customer.

The ESX exhibitor list reads like a who’s who of the electronic security industry, with leading manufacturers, distributors and service providers such as Honeywell, GE, ADI, Bosch, HID, DSC, Bold Technologies, Rapid Response, CMS, ADT, Brinks, DMP, NAPCO, System Sensor, Tri-Ed, ScanSource, Worthington and Wynit.

Congressmen Make Appeal for H.R.1409 Language in Higher Education Bill

NBFAA recently posted a letter to the Government Relations section of www.alarm.org. This letter was sent to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman and Ranking Member from eight House members requesting that Rep. Fossella’s H.R. 1409 language be included in the final bill. The House and Senate are in Conference Committee working on the differences between the House and Senate version of the bill. We will keep you up to date as it moves forward.

Alarm Association of Greater St. Louis Hosts Golf Tournament

SIAC Expands Mission To Include Fire Alarms

The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) recently announced an amendment to their mission statement which will expand the scope of their alarm ordinance support to include cities across the United States considering the creation or improvement of a fire alarm ordinance. To oversee the new endeavor, SIAC is also proud to announce the appointment of Luther Fincher as the SIAC National Fire Liaison.

“This is an exciting time for SIAC. Our board members changed our mission statement, allowing us to assist fire departments across the nation who might be looking for help with a model fire alarm ordinance,” stated Stan Martin, SIAC Executive Director. “We are fortunate and honored to have a fire professional with Luther’s qualifications and stature on our team. His knowledge, experience and network of contacts will help SIAC find cooperative solutions to local fire alarm issues.”

“As a fire professional, I understand the unique challenges that face fire departments everyday,” said Fincher. “My experience with city officials will help SIAC work effectively with local communities on their fire alarm ordinances.”

Acadian Monitoring Services Launches New Security Division

Acadian Monitoring Services, a division of Acadian Ambulance, recently announced that a new security division will be added to its list of services.

Marketed nationwide as America OnWatch, the new division will include a Video and Access Control Monitoring Center. The addition of this division will enhance or replace traditional security guard services at businesses. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) are part of this new program and actually allow for a virtual security guard service.

Blane Comeaux, vice president of Monitoring Services said, “This new division enables us to offer a cost-effective solution for businesses that in the past might not have been able to afford a full compliment of security guard services.”

Center For Campus Fire Safety Lends Support To NBFAA

The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association's (NBFAA) balanced approach to fire and life safety received a boost recently with the endorsement of the Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS). "The Center for Campus Fire Safety is pleased to show our support to the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association for your efforts in pursuit of a balanced approach to fire and life safety. I look forward to working with you," said CCFS Executive Director Amy Hamel. Since 2006, NBFAA has been working to educate government officials, agencies, consumers and others that a balanced approach to fire safety is the best way to save lives. The slogan, "Fire Detection plus Fire Suppression equals Fire Safety" has been the NBFAA's motto throughout this campaign.

NBFAA Welcomes Back Virginia Chapter

The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), Irving, Texas, board of directors unanimously welcomed the Virginia Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (VBFAA) back as a chartered chapter during NBFAA’s Leadership Summit. The VBFAA board of directors voted at the end of 2007 to rejoin the chapter alliance, and NBFAA made it official at the board meeting.
