Reserve Your Company’s Place in Industry History
NBFAA is turning 60 years old and 2008 will be a year of celebrating accomplishments and reflecting on the people and events that have brought us to where we are today.
I am writing to let you know that your company should not miss the chance to go down in history as a contributor to this memorial event.
We are in the process of putting together a four-color, glossy tribute book to commemorate the past, memorialize the present and anticipate the future.
More than 150 pages of editorial content and pictures will begin with 1948 and scan the years to pay homage to the companies, icons, events and technology that have sustained us and will carry us into the future.
In addition to providing our more than 2600 member companies with a book, we will distribute copies of Tribute to a Legacy of Leadership to attendees at the NBFAA 60th Anniversary Celebration during the Electronic Security Expo in June, 2008. It will also be displayed in the United States Library of Congress!
Go here to download your order form (zipped PDF) to reserve your sponsor and/or product ads to be included in this tribute to the NBFAA and the industry. For additional information about marketing and sponsorship opportunities with NBFAA go here.
Proceeds from this book will support NBFAA programs and initiatives that are developed for the sole purpose of enhancing the future of the industry.
Thank you in advance for your kind contribution to further our mission and for joining us in this historic celebration!
Very best regards,
Michael A. Miller
NBFAA Vice President / President Elect

Public Relations
- Our Youth Scholarship Program doubled funding to $20,000, and we increased chapter participation in three additional states, thus enhancing public safety - industry relations.

- In conjunction with the Indiana association, we hosted our first-ever training event focused on delivering industry-specific comprehensive business solutions for business owners, executives, directors and key individuals.
- We were actively involved in a legal case in New Jersey, and championed the submittal of an amicus brief in support of ADT and the alarm industry – which eventually led to a reversal of a previous judgment that could have affected your business.
- Assisted numerous state chapters through: Advanced warning on state legislation that impacts you; Public Relations support of state meetings and issues; Member communications efforts aimed at publicizing state and local events and issues.
Government Relations
- Monitored and tracked hundreds of bills in all 50 states and provided information to chapters and members through monthly State Legislative Reports.
- Members took to the nation’s Capitol in a grassroots lobbying effort during NBFAA Day on Capitol Hill to deliver members’ messages on key issues.
- Continued our on-going efforts to introduce and support legislation that includes fire detection as an integral part of the fire safety equation, resulting in the introduction of two Congressional bills this session.
- Spearheaded an industry effort to meet with federal regulators to encourage the upgrading of long-term care facilities with fire detection equipment.
As you can see from these many accomplishments, NBFAA is working with you, and for you, so that all our members’ businesses continue to grow and prosper. We look forward to an even more successful year working with you in 2008, and we hope to continue this relationship far into the future.

Deadline Extended for First Line of Defense Entries
NBFAA has decided to extend the deadline for entry into the First Line of Defense contest to March 14, 2008.
The new deadline not only allows for more great stories from our members but allows NBFAA to honor the winner at ESX in Nashville in June.
If you have a story about how an alarm system, installed by your company, was responsible for saving lives, averting property damage or aided in the apprehension of criminals, then you could be eligible to win the award.
The winner will be honored during a grand ceremony at ESX and have their story publicized nationally.
