We need your photos, your stories and your support to help make our 60th anniversary a memorable one. As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration, all 2008 members will receive a copy of a commemorative book, Tribute to a Legacy of Leadership. Reminder to All NTS Instructors
As we near the end of another successful training year, NTS wishes to remind all instructors that they are required to submit 1.2 CEU’s as part of maintaining their instructor certification. Also, due to requirements from an increasing number of state licensing/regulatory agencies, NTS is now requiring resumes as part of the instructor accreditation and renewal process. We are now required to submit “instructor qualifications” as part of the course accreditation process in numerous states. This requirement means that our courses will only be valid for “initial” licensing or “renewals” if the applicable course is taught by an approved instructor. Since we do not wish to place our students in the possible position of having their class attendance and completion jeopardized, we are implementing the requirement that all instructors must submit a resume to remain on the active instructor roster. While it is not our desire to loose even one instructor, we must act in the best interest of our students. If you do not have a current resume on file in the NTS office, or if you are not sure, please contact NTS at (866) 636-1687, or nts@alarm.org immediately. Chapter NewsTennessee Convention a Smashing Success The 2007 TBFAA Annual Convention & Trade Show is now history, but a great time was had by all who attended. Thanks to all the prayers for rain that we so badly needed after a summer of drought, the rain arrived on the opening day of our convention for the annual golf and sporting clay tournaments. The golfers and shooters still managed to have an awesome time, mainly because of the amazing members of this association and their “have a good time no matter what” attitude. Thanks to Ronnie McAfee and Mark Webb for organizing the golf tournament which was held at the Quail Ridge Golf Course. The winners were as follows:
Thanks also to Ron Grimm with Design Communications for sponsoring our Golf Beverage Cart. The sale of golf mulligans raised more than $300 for the Butch Work Benevolence Fund. Thanks to Johnny Tipps for organizing the Sporting Clay Tournament which was held at the Memphis Sport Shooting Association. The winners were:
Thanks to Rapid Response Monitoring for donating the Savage 110 7mm Remington Magnum gun for our benevolence fund drawing. We were able to raise $1,048 for the benevolence fund. Thanks to Darren Mohr (Honeywell), Don Childers (Security Central), Jerry Phillips and Alan King (HID Global) for offering our CEU credits at the convention. The following companies were recognized at the annual meeting with Service Awards for the time and dedication given to TBFAA:
ADS Security was recognized with an award for their continued support of TBFAA and bringing the most associates to the convention. After a long day of CEU’s, the luncheon, annual meeting, and exhibits, more than 130 members boarded the Memphis Queen III for a dinner cruise down the Mississippi River. The Nite Life Band provided a huge variety of music including our all time favorite, Rocky Top, requested by our own John Knox. Knoxville (Home of the VOLS) was named after John, did ya’ll know that? Ronnie McAfee and Mark Webb (our in-house, self-certified doctors) were on board giving free exams to anyone that would let them! It was a great ending to a long day! Thanks to Scott Slough, TBFAA President, the 2007 Board of Directors for a great year and to all those who attended the 2007 Annual Convention and Trade Show! Member Benefit Spotlight

SentryNet has been working with new technologies to provide their dealers with programs designed to add recurring monthly revenue (RMR). Video verification is becoming more important with communities and municipalities looking to reduce dispatches. On another front, the Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS) deadline is rapidly approaching and dealers are looking at all alternatives.
SentryNet is responding to the growing concern of municipalities requiring that alarms be verified before they respond. RSI Alarm’s Videofied is a proven technology and their system sends a video clip of the actual event that triggered the alarm direct to an operator’s screen in the central station.
SentryNet has decided to integrate Videofied into its systems as a means of verifying alarms and relaying important information to responding agencies in emergency situations.
SentryNet also recently added the AES/Intellinet new Advanced Wireless to Internet Communications System in their central station. This system is designed to support multiple mesh networks and connect them to the central station via the Internet. Several dealers have chosen this system as an excellent solution to the AMPS sunset issue. The AES/Intellinet system also enables dealers to expand their existing capabilities and can link multiple mesh networks to the central station.
Napco is optimizing the latest technology to transform security departments into onsite alarm monitoring receivers using campus or retail intranet. Put security staff directly online with their security system using their standard personal computer and Intranet/Internet and eliminate dedicated phone line costs.
Ideal in guard stations for faster dispatches, Napco’s NetLink does not require a dedicated central station receiver. Using a computer with Napco’s NetLink CS Software and the Internet or your won Intranet instead of phone lines for alarm reporting can save thousands of dollars in phone costs. Money saved can be better spent on other service and upgrade offerings. Configure NetLink for primary and/or backup reporting of alarms over a network in conjunction with telephone lines.
Napco’s two alternative alarm-panel NetLink Internet reporting modules can be used in new and retrofit applications. They communicate alarms over the Internet or Intranet over a network, securely using dynamic Internet protocol (IP) addressing. There is a NetLink Module for use with Napco alarm panels or any brand alarm panel.
ADI, a wholesale distributor of security and low voltage products, recently announced an agreement with On-Q/Legrand to carry their UStec ceLAN and iLAN residential structured wiring products at branches throughout North America.
The ceLAN and iLAN series provide dealers with the wiring infrastructure needed to distribute and connect video, data, and voice signals for home entertainment, home networking, and home security and automation.
Available at ADI branches beginning Jan. 1, 2008, the ceLAN and iLAN series allow dealers to install a clean and professional structured wiring system. The modular design allows multiple cabinets to be linked together and populated with additional functionality at either the time of installation or in the future. In addition, the ceLAN and iLAN products are customizable, so installers can purchase and tailor the product to their needs.
