Association News WBFAA Hosts Seminar for SavingsRichard Poling, a representative from Security America Risk Retention Group, will present the Wisconsin Burglar & Fire Alarm Association with a seminar on “Substantial Savings in Insurance Costs” Thursday, Nov. 17. The event, which is held in conjunction with a WBFAA Membership Meeting, will begin at 5:30 p.m.; the $25 per person cost includes dinner and the seminar. Submit Your Entries for First Line of Defense Award ProgramThe 2006 First Line of Defense Award wants to celebrate your company’s success as a security provider! The wholesale distributor of security products and equipment re-opened on Sept. 29, 2005; ironically, the five-year anniversary of the opening of SPW in Louisiana. Owners Mike and Kathy Brown said, “We are so thankful for the encouragement and support we have received from our families and friends, and we are glad to be back in business.” SPW, located in Metairie, La., has primary markets in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and the Gulf Coast region of Alabama and Florida. Brink's Home Security Opens New Office to Handle GrowthHigh growth levels in the housing market of Montgomery and Frederick Counties has fueled the demand for home security systems, and Brink’s Home Security is opening a new office in Frederick, Md., to meet the needs of this market. “As our business continues to grow, we need new offices to more conveniently serve our customers. The branch office in Frederick will not only help us to enhance local service, but will also benefit our employees and reduce expenses by cutting down on drive times to the homes and businesses we serve,” said Keith Patterson, vice president of Region Operations for Brink’s Home Security. The new office will handle territory previously covered by other Brink’s Home Security branches in Sterling, Va. and Lanham, Md. It will be fully staffed with a sales force, technicians and administrative personnel. Honeywell Unveils New and Improved Literature XPressHoneywell unveiled a new version of Literature XPress—the online marketing service available exclusively to Honeywell customers. The updated service includes an expanded commercial section, a new home networking category, a wider range of brochures, sell sheets and posters and targeted collateral designed to help dealers address the needs of restaurants, schools, retailers, banks, warehouses and more. Honeywell customers can open a Literature XPress account free of charge by visiting http://www.security.honeywell.com/resources/xpress and registering.
