Tri-State offers Security Networks $475,000 of recurring monthly revenue and 14,000 residential accounts. This purchase came on the heels of the April acquisition of Marlin Central Station in Orlando and the October 2004 acquisition of Pilot Home Technologies of Charlotte, N.C. Bosch Adds New and Improved Flat-Panel MonitorsBosch Security Systems announced the addition of two, new flat-panel liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors. Bosch says the monitors are state-of-the-art because of their ergonomic, compact and aesthetically pleasing design. Each monitor has composite video, audio and S-Video inputs and an analog video graphics array (VGA) input. The monitors run on a universal power source and are touted to consume 50 percent less power than a conventional cathode ray tube (CRT) monitor. According to Bosch, the monitors automatically accept National Television System Committee (NTSC) and phase- alternating line (PAL) signal formats and power supply voltages from 100 to 240 volts of alternating current (VAC). For more information on all Bosch monitors, visit www.boschsecurity.us or call 800-289-0096. Member Benefit Spotlight: Online Business Skills CoursesAs a member of NBFAA you have access to cutting-edge online training at a fraction of the cost of traditional programs. This includes more than 1,500 online courses, including desktop applications, server administration, and "soft skills" such as contract negotiation and interview techniques. For more information about online training and skills courses, visit www.alarm.org and click on professional development or call 866-636-1687. Editor’s Note: NBFAA received the following memo from Connie Moorhead, president of The CMOOR Group. NBFAA commends CMOOR’s willingness to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. While online training is certainly not on the forefront of anyone's minds who are currently dealing with the aftermath of the tragedy left behind from Hurricane Katrina, I wanted to send a proactive message to our clients who utilize our Learning Management System. As you know, this system hosts courses based on a license of 3, 6 or 12-months depending on the implementation of your courses and client preferences. Because many of you have students and customers living in the affected areas who have also signed up for online training, those student's licenses will automatically be extended so that they can utilize the training to its fullest when they are able to do so. CMOOR does not want to put a specific time limit on this license extension. Our preference is to work openly and cooperatively with your students so that when they are ready to focus on work or training again, they can do so. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at 502-254-7749. Best Regards, Connie Connie MoorheadPresident The CMOOR Group - Constructing Better Training HID Establishes Office in ChinaHID Technology Company Limited opened a new office in Shenzhen, China, last month that will house sales, customer support, warehouse and business development space for the company's smart card products in the region. Georgia and Tennessee Police Chiefs Endorse ECVThe Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) announced that the Georgia and Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police have endorsed Enhanced Call Verification (ECV). ECV, developed by the NBFAA, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA), is one of several alarm management protocols. ECV is a proven method of reducing police dispatches by requiring monitoring centers to make two calls to a customer to determine whether a false alarm has occurred. SIAC is a 501 (c) (6) non-profit organization comprised of four major North American security associations—NBFAA, Canadian Security Association (CANASA), Security Industry Association (SIA), and the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA)—representing one voice for the alarm industry on alarm management issues. SIAC’s primary charter is to significantly reduce calls for service while strengthening the lines of communication with law enforcement professionals and end users, and to ensure the safety and security of more than 35 million alarm system users in homes and businesses throughout North America.
