ESA is the oldest and largest association representing the electronic life safety, security and systems industry. We deliver value to members through government advocacy, communications services, professional development, networking opportunities and endorsed programs. There are many advantages of membership:

Members get discounts on valued programs. For example, members get a discount on ESA’s National Training School (NTS) which is the definitive source for education and training. It offers the security industry programs designed to meet licensing requirements, and provides industry-specific technical, sales, management and central station training. NTS continues to develop new courses to meet the demand for education.

Members also benefit from the discounts they receive on their insurance through Security America Risk Retention Group (SARRG). The cost of membership is offset by the savings most members receive from purchasing their insurance through SARRG.

The government affairs department serves as an industry watchdog, monitoring legislative activity on all levels and alerting members when the industry may be affected. In the current environment, members need this service more than ever. ESA reports directly to our members on the most pressing industry and legislative issues, including VoIP, ECV and federal and state legislative issues. Members receive state licensing guides and monthly reports as part of our service.

Members are apprised on industry affairs, and ESA represents and speaks on our members’ behalf within the industry and to external audiences. Issues affecting the security industry change as technology and business practices change, but ESA watches trends and stays abreast of matters that specifically target the security industry to ensure our members can respond to concerns that have the potential to impact their businesses.

ESA provides strategic public relations efforts aimed at consumers and other key audiences. Our Youth Scholarship Program creates goodwill between the security industry and public safety officials throughout the country by offering scholarships to the children of those who protect and serve our communities. And a continuing public relations outreach to consumers provides them with the information they need to help them protect their homes and choose an ESA-member alarm company.

Recognizing the impact that standards play in the industry, ESA provides our members with information on the status of current and evolving standards, and serves as an industry expert and advisor in the creation and on-going development of standards. In addition to being an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standard-writing organization, ESA also has representatives on committees of both the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and International Code Council (ICC).
